Preparing the Telephone for Use
1.2 Handset
Note:Put the base station/charging unit into operation first
before the handset so that the batteries of the handset can be
charged immediately and the handset of the alphaTel 5000 DE is
able to locate "its" base immediately.
The handset of the alphaTel 5000 DL must be logged on to the base
station of the alphaTel 5000 DE (or another DECT unit) (see sec-
tion5.9"Logging Handset On/Off").
Installation: Battery
The handset is powered by two chargeable batteries.
1. Hold handset with keys pointing down.
2. Open battery compartment and insert included batteries. Make
sure poles are correct!
3. To close, slide the cover onto the battery compartment until it
closes tight .
Charging the batteries
The included batteries are not charged.
To charge, place the handset on the base station / into the charging
unit.
You will hear a signal tone and see the charging LED of the base
station go on to confirm that the batteries are being charged.
At certain times, the LED goes off briefly. The charging state is
checked during this time.
The batteries are fully charged when the LED begins to flash (main-
tenance charge).
INT 12:56 The symbol in the upper right corner of the display indicates the
Tu 12.06.charging status of the batteries (corresponds to the number of
!LOW BATT !segments addressed). In addition the message ?LOW BATT? ap-
pears when the batteries are empty.
MEN�CRM
Fully charged batteries allow you to telephone for up to 7 hours.
The standby time of a fully charged battery is up to 100 hours.
