Cartridge Fitting: Careful, light scraping or filing of the mounting face of the cartridge, to
clean off any burrs or moulding flash, allows the cartridge to seat properly in the mounting
block.
Bias Thread: Occasionally, the bias thread will have a ?set? which will cause it to leave
the pulley groove each time the bias lever is raised during adjustment. If this is annoying, it
can be ?reset? by applying gentle pressure downward on the lever whilst holding the arm
tube.
Tracking force and bias adjustment: Tracking force is best set near the top of the
manufacturers tolerance. A test record will help set both this and the bias, however it is
sometimes found that all tests will be passed but mistracking will still occur. A small
additional amount of downward force should take care of this. Whilst we cannot
recommend it, some recent moving coil cartridges require force outside of the
manufacturers limits. |
