1-7. Circuit Description
Outline
The MPEG Decoder Unit BDX-D1000 has a function which selects and decodes a program multiplexed
in the MPEG transport stream and decodes and outputs the video and audio data.
The signal processing system of the BDX-D1000 conforms to the MPEG system/video/audio and DVB
(Digital Video Broadcasting) standards.
The BDX-D1000 is composed of four blocks N stream input, decoder, analog output, and digital output.
1. Stream Input Block (TSI-2 Board)
The BDX-D1000 has four kinds stream input N IF, DVB-ASI, SDDI, and DVB parallel.
The TSI-2 board receives these four stream inputs.
These four stream input processes are described in the following.
The IF input is demodulated by the QPSK demodulator module, and sent out as the transport stream.
The DVB-ASI input and SDDI input are converted each serial signal to parallel signal and sent out as the
transport stream.
The DVB parallel input is received by the LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signal) receiver and sent out
as the transport stream.
From these four transport streams, one is selected and sent to the DEC-99 board.
It is then returned to the TSI-2 board again via the DEC-99 board, converted parallel to serial, then
provided to STREAM OUT connector as the DVB-ASI signal.
The reference video input is sync-separated, to generate the video timing signals and the color frame
information .
2. Decoder Block (DEC-99 Board and DP-255 Board)
In the DEC-99 board, one program is selected from the transport stream sent from the TSI-2 board, the
video and audio data is decoded, and provided to the analog and digital output block.
The transport stream sent from the TSI-2 board is first sent to the transport stream interface to extract the
packet data in the stream.
Next, if the BDKP-D1003/D1004 (SCR-7/8 board) is mounted, the scramble signal will be descrambled
in these boards.
After this, the following processes will be carried out by the transport De-MUX.
. Service information such as PAT (Program Association Table)/PMT (Program Map Table) is detected.
. PCR (Program Clock Reference) is detected, and clock is generated.
. The video data is extracted, and provided to the video decoder as the MPEG video stream in the PES
(Packetized Elementary Stream) form.
. The audio data is extracted, and provided to the audio decoder as the MPEG audio stream in the ES
(Elementary Stream) form.
