Automatic Editing
In assemble or insert editing using effects such as cut, wipe, and
dissolve, the first step is to specify which part of the player video
is to be recorded on which part of the recorder tape. This operation
is called setting edit points. The point where the edit starts is the
IN point, and the point where it ends is the OUT point. The time
from the IN point to the OUT point is called the duration. Before
executing an effect such as wipe or dissolve, it is necessary to
specify how long it will take to make the transition from the first
scene to the next scene. This is called the transition time.
Once the edit data described above has been set, the BVE-700
allows you to operate all of the VTRs by pressing a single button,
so that the edit is executed automatically. This is called automatic
editing.
In automatic editing, the player and recorder start playback at a
point slightly before the IN point (the preroll point), and stop at a
point slightly past the OUT point (the postroll point). The
complete procedure is illustrated in the following figure.
