VERTICAL AMPLIFIER
The vertical amplifier is based on a class D amplifier (IC501). Class D is a method of modulation in which the transistors
operate switched to high frequency. The square wave output signal is recovered from an analogue signal by means of an

external low-pass filter. This model has low power dissipation compared with the traditional class AB amplifiers used
previously, doing away with the need for using dissipators.
The vertical signal is a differential signal, applied in respect of IC502, producing a saw-tooth that is amplified (IC501) and
applied in the form of current to the vertical deflection coil. This current is measured by means of a resistance (R518)
which, in the form of voltage, is used as feedback for guaranteeing compliance on the part of the deflection coil with the
input signal.
The necessary overvoltage for rapid vertical flyback is achieved by means of the vertical flyback circuit. This circuit is
activated on vertical flyback, connecting the vertical deflection coil at 25V, and thereby allowing for a much faster increase.
The vertical circuit also incorporates an HPROT output which is directed to the digital module (SDA9380), with the vertical
saw-tooth information, allowing the integrated unit to detect whether or not the vertical amplifier hardware is operating
correctly. When the television set is turned on, if SDA9380 does not detect the pulses correctly, the HOUT horizontal line
is automatically shut off.
