8. Alignments
Index of this chapter:8.3.1 GENERAL
8.1 General Alignment Conditions
8.2 Hardware AlignmentsFor the next alignments, supply the following test signals via a
8.3 Software Alignmentsvideo generator to the RF input:
8.4 Option SettingsEU/AP-PAL models: a PAL B/G TV-signal with a signal
strength of at least 1 mV and a frequency of 475.25 MHz
8.1General Alignment ConditionsUS/AP-NTSC models: an NTSC M/N TV-signal with a
signal strength of at least 1 mV and a frequency of 61.25
MHz (channel 3).
8.1.1 Start ConditionsLATAM models: an NTSC M or PAL M TV-signal with a
signal strength of at least 1 mV and a frequency of 61.25
Perform all electrical adjustments under the following MHz (channel 3).
conditions:
Power supply voltage (depends on region): LUMA GAIN
- AP-NTSC: 120 VAC or 230 VAC / 50 Hz (? 10%).Fixed setting of "1".
- AP-PAL-multi: 120 - 230 VAC / 50 Hz (? 10%).
- EU: 230 VAC / 50 Hz (? 10%).
- LATAM-NTSC: 120 - 230 VAC / 50 Hz (? 10%).DELTA LUMA GAIN FOR AUX (only when a 2nd Tuner is

Fixed setting of "0 dB".
Connect the set to the mains via an isolation transformer
with low internal resistance.
Allow the set to warm up for approximately 10 to 15 IF AFC
minutes.Alignment procedure:
Measure voltages and waveforms in relation to chassis 1. During the IF AFC-parameter adjustment, one can see
ground (with the exception of the voltages on the primary OSD feedback on the screen.
2. The OSD feedback can give four kinds of messages:
side of the power supply). 3. The first item ("IN/OUT") informs you whether you are in or
Caution: never use heatsinks as ground.

Use an isolated trimmer/screwdriver to perform 4. The second item ("HIGH/LOW") informs you whether the
alignments.AFC-frequency is too high or too low.

8.1.2 Initial Settings
Perform all electrical adjustments with the following initial AFC-windowAFC-frequency vs. reference
settings (via the "Active Control" button on the RC):OutHigh

8.1.3 Alignment Sequence1. Adjust the IF AFC parameter until the first value is within
the AFC window (= IN).
First, set the correct options: 2. Next, adjust the IF AFC parameter until the second value

White point alignment.Measure the DC voltage on pin 1 of the (main) Tuner. You can
adjust this voltage by adjusting the TUNER AGC item in the
8.2Hardware AlignmentsSAM menu. Alignment is correct when the DC voltage is just
below 3.5 V.
No hardware alignments are necessary.
