Custom Configuration
4.5 Confirming Proper Installation of the DR-R504X
Several tests can be done to confirm that the DRM-5004X with an
additional writer installed has been set up correctly. These tests are
done without connecting a computer to the DRM-5004X. For
complete Test Mode Diagnostics, see Chapter 5, Test Mode.
NOTE: Checking the SCSI interface connections requires a computer.4

4.5.1 Enable the DRM-5004X Test Mode
4Test Mode allows you to confirm that the DRM-5004X is properly set
up and that all the components are working. Entering Test Mode also
provides information on the firmware version of the DRM-5004X.
Follow these directions to enable Test Mode:
1. With the power turned on, open the front panel door.
2. Locate door interlock switch at center of inside front right rail.
3. Insert door switch bypass jig into door lock hole to hold switch
closed during testing. Call Service for information.
4. Locate the TM button on the inside front right rail above door
interlock switch. Figure 4-32, Mode Setting Buttons and Display.
5. With door switch bypassed, press the TM button and hold for
three seconds or until the Display shows 00_xxx.
6. Test Mode is now enabled.
7. Observe the LED display on the inside top rail and confirm that
Test Mode is enabled. The display will show O00_xxxÃ�. See
Figure 4-33, Display Indicating Test Mode Enabled, and the
ROM Version Number.
The leftmost two characters show O00Ã� to indicate test mode 0,
submode 0. The OxxxÃ� characters of the display show the cur-
rent firmware revision level of the DRM-5004X. As of this
printing, the firmware revision level is version 1.13. If the
observed firmware revision level is not current, contact the
Pioneer Bulletin Board System to download software to upgrade
the EPROM. See Appendix D, Pioneer Technical Resource
Numbers. See Chapter 6, Upgrading Firmware for more
information.
