Self-diagnosis display
The camcorder has a self-diagnosis display.LCD screen
This function displays the camcorderOs condition
with five digits (a combination of a letter andSTBY
figures) on the LCD screen. If this occurs, check
the following code chart. The five-digit displayC : 21: 00
informs you of the camcorderOs current40min
condition. The last two digits (indicated by 11)
will differ depending on the state of the
camcorder.40min

Five-digit displayCause and/or corrective actions
C:21:11Y Moisture condensation has occurred.
m Remove the cassette and leave the camcorder for at least 1 hour.

C:22:11Y The video heads are dirty.
m Clean the heads using the Sony DVM12CL cleaning cassette (not
supplied). (p. 84)
C:23:11Y You are using a battery pack that is not an OInfoLITHIUM� battery
pack.
m Use an OInfoLITHIUM� battery pack. (p. 7)
C:31:11Y A servicable situation not malfunctioned above has occurred.
C:32:11m Remove the cassette and insert it again, then operate the
camcorder. (p. 11)
m Disconnect the power cord of the AC power adaptor or remove
the battery pack. After reconnecting the power source, operate
the camcorder.
E:61:11Y A camcorder malfunction which you cannot service has occurred.
E:62:11m Contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service
facility and inform them of the five digits. (example: E:61:10)
