Construction features
This section describes the specific characteristics of the BORGHESE tonearm, the construction features, the reasons for the technical choices
and the originality of the design.
- BORGHESE is a Uni Pivot tone -arm of medium/high mass with a long straight Arm tube of an overall length, from the Pivot?s center, of
223mm, and conseque ntly compliant with the Rega standard. The materials used in the manufacture of the BORGHESE are anodised
aluminium and Brass.
- The Arm tube, made entirely of light and rigid anodised aluminium, is a single piece, which pass thru the Pivot. The tone-arm is locked to
the Pivot Tower using air -free seal bonding agents, which alone can guarantee a perfect coupling of the materials.
- The Shell, also made from 6082 aluminium alloy aluminium, has a slightly conical pin designed to avoid any play once inserted within the
Arm tube. It is locked onto a rectified plate using air-free seal bonding agents. The rectified plate guarantees that the Shell/Pivot Tower
remains at perfectly right angles.
- The Pivot Tower in anodised aluminium with a special brass sink can be filled with the High-density silicon supplied to virtually eliminate
all the problems of mistracking and vibration.
- The Pivot is made from threaded stainless steel to facilitate insertion in the Shaft (the pin of the tone-arm which is clamped to the base).
It has a sharp point facing upwards which enables an incredibly rigid coupling to the benefit of a truly enhanced sound performance.
- The counterweight is made of anodised aluminium & polished gold plated brass and enables the use of any kind of cartridge. It is directly
inserted in the back part of the arm tube and it has got a low barycentre due to its shape, which further increases the stability of the entire
tonearm. The counterweight is made up of 2 cylindrical weights for a perfect azimuth adjustment and an anti skating help.
- The Shaft is made entirely of aluminium and has a diameter of 23mm (Rega standard). On the base there is a multi poles DIN connector to
connect the stereo cable to the amplifier (Phono RCA standard connectors).
- The height -adjustable arm Lift is made of brass, stainless steel and PTE. It has a hydraulic movement that is a gradual ascent and descent.
It provides perfect and easy movements of the tonearms to better and safely find the right positions on the records.
- The Tone -arm arm r est is made of PTE. It is large not to force the pivot when the tone-arm rest down. The arm rest is located on the
arm lift board
- The cables used in the tone-arm are high quality very thin (36 AWG) OFC OCC Hyper Litz copper and silver made under custom
specifications; they are shielded using a steel sock inside the arm tube to avoid RFI & EMI.
- The cartridge connectors are gilded, made in a special pincer shape. The contact with the cartridge connectors is perfect and hardwearing. |
