Read theOperatinginstructionscarefullyandcompletelybeforeoperating
theunit.BesuretokeeptheOperatingInstructionsforfuturereference.
Allwarnings and cautionsinthe Operating Instructionsand on the unit
should be strictlyfollowed,as wellas the safetysuggestions below.
Installation
1Water and moisture ---Do notuse thisunitnear water,such as near
a bathtub,washbowl, kitchensink,laundrytub,ina wet basement,
swimming pool,orthe like.
2Heat ---Do not use thisunitnear sources ofheat,includingheating
vents,stoves,orotherappliancesthatgenerate heat.
3Surface ---Place the uniton a flat,even surface.
4Ventilation---Theunitshould be situatedwithadequate space around
itso thatproper heat ventilationisassured. Allow 10 cm clearance
from the rearand thetop ofthe unit,and 5 cm from the each side.
- Do not place iton a bed, rug,orsimilarsurfacethatmay blockthe
ventilationopenings.
- Do not installitin a bookcase, cabinet, or airtightrack where
ventilationmay be impeded.
5Objects and liquid---Take care thatsmall objectsor liquidsdo not
getinsidethe u~itthrough theventilationopenings.
6Carts and stand ---Use theapplianceonlywitha cartorstand thatis
recommendedby the manufacturer,
When placed or mounted on a stand orcart,itshould be moved with
care.
Quicksteps. excessive force,and uneven surfaces may cause the
unitand cartcombination tooverturnorfall.
7Condensation ---Moisturemay form on the CD pickup lenswhen:
- the unitismoved from a coldspottoa warm spot,
- the heatingsystem has justbeen turnedon.
- the unitisused ina very humid room.
- the unitiscooled by an airconditioner.
When thisunithas condensation inside,itmay notfunctionnormally.
Should thisoccur.Ieavethe unitforafew hours,then trycooperate
again.
8Wall orceilina mountina ---The unitshould not be mounted on a
wallorceiling,-unlessspecifiedinthe operatinginstructions.
ElectricPower
1Power sources ---Connect thisunitonlytopower sources specified
intheOperating Instructions,andasmarkedon the unit.
2Polarization(U model oniy)---Asa safetyfeature,some unitsare
equipped with polarizedAC power plugs which can only reinserted
onewayinto a power outlet.Ifitisdifficultorimpossible toinsertthe
ACpowerplugintoanoutlet,turnthe plugoverand tryagain. Ifitstill
does not easilyinsertintothe outlet,please calla qualifiedservice
techniciantoserviceorreplacetheoutlet.To avoiddefeatingthesafety
featureofthe polarizedplug,do notforceitintoa power outlet.
3AC power cord
- Whendisconnecting thepowercord, pullitoutbythe ACpowerplug,
Do notpullthe cord itself.
- Never handle theACpower plugwithwetlands, asthiscould result
infireorshock.
- Donotwalkonthepowercord or pinch itby items placed upon or
againstit,as these could resultinfireorshock.
- Avoid overloadingpower sockets andextension cords beyond their
capacity,as thiscould resultinfireor shock.
4Extension cord ---To help prevent electricshock, do not use a
polarizedAC power plug withan extensioncord,receptacle,or other
outletunlessthepolarizedplugcan be completelyinsertedtoprevent
exposure ofthe blades ofthe plug.
5Non-use periods ---Unplug theAC power cordfrom thepower socket
iftheunitwillnotbeusedfor severalmonths ormore. When thecord
isplugged in,asmall amount ofcurrentcontinuestoflowtothe unit,
even when the power isturned off.
Damage RequiringService
Have the unitsservicedby a qualifiedservicetechnicianif:
- The AC power cord orplug has been damaged
- Objects or liquidhave gotteninsidethe unit
The unithas been exposed torainorwater
- The unitdoes notseem tooperate normally
- The unitexhibitsa marked change inperformance
- The unithas been dropped, orthecabinethas been damaged
