This manual is for both the EU and Australian version of the CCD-TR55(E) Camcorder, as stated it includes both the users manual and the service manual. The quality of the manual is very good but it is only black and white (not full colour) and ultimately it is just a scan, so 4/5 from me.

SERVICE NOTES
DEGAUSSING COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT
Introduction
The cathode ray tubes are demagnetised with a magnetic field produced by a decreasing sine voltage which passes
through the degaussing coil. Figure 1.
To create this voltage, the sine form of the mains voltage is used, and a PTC resistance is incorporated; as it warms up,
this brings about a reduction in the current over time. A triac (SCR) is incorporated in series with the circuit, and this opens
and closes the passage of current through the degaussing coil and the PTC. Figure 1.

Control circuit
A new Degaussing triac control circuit is introduced, to prevent the PTC from conducting indefinitely once demagnetisation
of the tube has taken place.
When the supply is turned on, a voltage pulse appears in D711, which has a twofold effect: Firstly, charging C748 with a
continuous supply, and secondly, causing a voltage peak through C903, which saturates Q901. The slope of the pulse that
saturates Q901 increases in gradient thanks to the pulse produced by C902.
When both capacitors are charged (C903 and C902), they slowly stop conducting, causing Q901 to cut out; Q902 is
automatically saturated, causing C902 to invert the polarity, which gives rise to Q901 cutting out more quickly.
The circuit remains in this state indefinitely, until the television set is turned on again, or it leaves ?Stand-by? mode.
