8 Keyboard.
8.1 Kind of keyboard fault.
Insert a SIM card and a fully charged battery.
Start the phone using the On/Off-key.
Y If it doesnOt start at all proceed to chapter 3 (ODoesnOt start�-fault).
Y If the phone (GH 688) consumes approximately 60mA (average, varies), the bat-
tery indicator blinks once or twice and then turns itself off proceed to section 8.2.
Press all the keys (including the volume keys on the GH 688) to check which of the
keys that are faulty. The following is the easiest way to check the keyboard:
1. Go to Menu/Setting/Key sound and choose OClick�.
2. Press keys 1-9, *, 0, #. The phone should click and the display should show the
corresponding symbol for each key pressed. Then press OYes�, ONo�, OClr�, O<�
and O>�. When pressing OYes� the phone should try to place a call and when
pressing ONo� it should disconnect it. The OClr� key should make the phone
erase one or more symbols/numbers in the display when pressed. When pressing
the keys O<� and O>� the phone should enter the menu for you to skim through.
3. Press the volume keys on the side of the phone (GH 688). The phone should
click at every key pressed.
Y If only the volume keys are faulty proceed to section 8.2
Y If one or more of the keyboard keys are faulty proceed to section 8.3
Y If the volume keys and one or more of the keyboard keys are faulty proceed to
section 8.2 and then to 8.3.
8.2 Volume keys faulty.
Open the phone and check for liquid damage, especially around X820 (Å¢g 8.1).
