Network Fault Tolerance (NFT) provides the safety of an additional backup
link between the server and hub or switch. In the case of failure in a hub or
switch port, cable, or NIC, you can maintain uninterrupted network
performance.
Network Fault Tolerance is implemented with a primary NIC and a backup (or
secondary) NIC. During normal operation, the backup NIC will have transmit
disabled. If the link to the primary NIC fails, the link to the secondary NIC
automatically takes over.
To use NFT, your Fast Ethernet NICs must be installed in a Windows NT 4.0 or
NetWare 4.1x server and they must be linked to the same network.
