ELECTRICAL ADJUSTMENT-4/8 (U MODEL)
< CD SECTION >
CD Adjustment Method
Y Perform the adjustments after the machine enters the test mode.
Y Place the CD mechanism horizontally level.
Y Equipment and tools required
Measuring equipment: Oscilloscope (Use the probe of 10:1)
Digital Multimater (Use it in the DC Volt range.)
Jitter meter (KIKUSUI 6235 or equivalent)
Test disc: TCD-782
ATD-001
DIGITAL MULTIMETER
9. FOCUS BIAS Adjustment
1) Connect a Digital Multimater to the test point (FOCUS BIAS), (VREF).V
2) Play back the 2nd track of the TCD-782.+ --
3) Adjust SFR530 until the VOM indicates 0 ? 10 mV.FE
VREF
10. RF Waveform CheckOSCILLOSCOPE
1) Connect an oscilloscope to the test point (RF SM), (D-GND).1.8 Vp-p
2) Play back the 2nd track of the TCD-782.
OUTPUT
3) Check to see that the RF waveform has the maximum amplitude and0V
EYE PATTERN
the center of the wedge waveform has the clear blank.+ --must be CLEAR and MAX.
RF
VOLT/DIV: 500mV
11. Jitter CheckVREFTIME/DIV: 0.5?S
1) While an oscilloscope is kept connected in the same test point as in the
OSCILLOSCOPE
10. RF Waveform Check, connect the output terminal of an
JITTER METER
oscilloscope to the input terminal of a jitter meter.
2) Set the VOLT range selector of an oscilloscope to 500 mV range orOUTPUTINPUTns
lower.+ --
3) Play back the 2nd track of the TCD-782.RF
4) Check to see that a jitter meter indicates 28.0 ns or less.VREF
12. Tracking Balance CheckOSCILLOSCOPE
1) Connect an oscilloscope to the test point (TE), (VREF).
A
2) Play back the 2nd track of the TCD-782 and press the PAUSE button.
VREF
3) Check to see that the traverse waveform on an oscilloscope isOUTPUTB
vertically symmetrical.+ --A=B
TE
VOLT/DIV: 500mV
13. Play-ability CheckVREFTIME/DIV: 1mS
1) Play back the 3rd, 8th and 13th track of ATD-001. Check to see that
noise does not occur and sound skipping does not occur.
14. Laser Current Check
* Do not perform this measurement unless the laser is suspected to be
defective.
1) Connect a Digital Multimater across the resistor R502 (10 ohms).PICK UP
2) Play back the TCD-782 and check the DC voltage value on a Digital
KSS-213C
Multimater.26212
DIGITAL MULTIMETER
3) For the PICKUP: KSS-213CDG376
Calculate the laser current (Iop) by dividing the DC voltage acrossV
R502 by the resistor value (R502 = 10 ohms).+ --37.6mA
Laser current (Iop) = DC voltage across R502 divided by theR502
resistor value (10 ohms).R502
Check to see that the laser current (Iop) is in the range of ? 6 mA of
the current value that is indicated on the pickup label.
For the PICKUP: DA11B3
Calculate the laser current (Iop) by dividing the DC voltage across
R502 by the resistor value (R502 = 10 ohms).
Laser current (Iop) = DC voltage across R502 divided by the
resistor value (10 ohms).
Check to see that the laser current (Iop) is 80 mA or less.
