Switching ON and OFFInserting discs
1 Plug the power cord supplied into the AC IN socket on
the CDR500, then into a AC power outlet.

Note:
When the power is switched ON, the STANDBY function on the
remote control (72) allows the CDR500 to be turned OFF ex-
cept for the IR receiever circuit that will wait for the standby
signal to turn power back on.Y If a CD-R/RW is finalized it will show CD on the display.
Y If CD-text is available the TITLE/ARTIST will scroll by.
Using the remote control
1 Open the battery compartment cover.
2 Insert 2 batteries (AA, LR-6 or UM-3; as supplied) as
shown.
3 Replace the cover.Note:
The CD-Player drive is able to read un-finalized CD-R and CD-
RW discs.
CD-Recorder drive only
- For recording it is important that the blank disc is completely
free from dust particles or scratches. (see Compact Discs
Care, page 1).
- If you insert a blank or partly-recorded CD-R/RW or an
unfinalized CD-R/RW, the CD-Recorder will calibrate the
disc for optimum recording. During this process the display
will first show and then the number of
Note:audio tracks. Calibration can take up to 30 seconds.
We recommend you use 2 batteries of the same type and
condition.
This remote control can switch OSTANDBY ON/OFF� but can-
not switch OPOWER ON/OFF� on the CD-Recorder.
Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be
disposed of properly.
