TROUBLESHOOTING
If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair. If you are
unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre.
WARNING: Do not open the set as there is a risk of electric shock. Under no circumstances
should you try to repair the set yourself, as this would invalidate the guaranteeEnglish

No sound/powerCD playback does not work
� VOLUME is not adjusted� CD is badly scratched or dirty.
Y Adjust the VOLUMEY Replace or clean the CD, see Maintenance.
� Headphones are connected� Laser lens steamed up
Y Disconnect headphonesY Wait until lens has acclimatized
� Mains lead not securely connectedThe CD skips tracks
Y Connect the AC mains lead properly� CD is damaged or dirty.
� Batteries exhausted/ incorrectly insertedY Replace or clean the CD
Y Insert fresh batteries/ batteries correctly
� SHUFFLE or a programme is active.
CD playback sounds distorted at maximumY Quit SHUFFLE/PROGRAM mode(s)
level Poor cassette sound quality
� Original CD pre-recorded at very high sound� Dust and dirt on the heads, etc.

Y Reduce volume and/or deactivate any added� Use of incompatible cassette types (METAL
