OVERALL MACHINE CONTROL
The 512 KB DRAM contains the SAF memory, ECM buffer memory, and work
area. The SAF memory can be extended by 2 or 4 Mbytes with an IC card.
A 512 KB (4 Mbit) ROM is used for the system ROM.
For the USA and some Europe models, the software in this ROM can be re-
written from the IC card slot or by RDS (because a Flash ROM is used).
The IJC consists of the following components:
?CPU - 16-bit CPU with 16-MHz external clock input
?Printer Controller - Gate Array
?RIDC - Raster Image Data Controller, interface between FCE and IJC
?ROM - The inkjet printer control program and the bitmap font data
?DRAM - Receive buffer, download buffer, and working area for printing
?I/F Controller - Centronics Interface Controller
?SRAM - Working area
?HIC - Hybrid IC, Tx/Rx Amplifier
?Thermistor - Detects the temperature in the printer
?LED Driver - LED on/off control
?EEPROM - Contains the following data:
? Total amount of waste ink
? Total number of pages that have passed through the printer
