Defrosting
Frost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator
of the refrigerator compartment every time the motor
compressor stops, during normal use. The defrost wa-
ter drains out through a trough (Fig. 7) into a special
container on the back of the appliance where it evapo-D016

We particularly recommend that you periodicallyReconnect the appliance to the power supply or turn
clean the defrost-water drainage outlet, located inthe thermostat knob to the desired setting. After two

provided, which you will Ţnd already inserted into
the discharge hole.Important:
Fig. 7Remember that an increase of the surface tempera-
ture of already-frozen foods may signiŢcantly de-
crease the duration of their conservation.
Never use metal objects to scrape away the accumu-
lated frost since you may damage the cooling circuit.
Ice cube trays
The refrigerator is provided with two ice cube trays.
These trays should be Ţlled with drinking water and
then placed in the freezer compartment.
D037Do not use metal tools to remove the trays when they
are stuck-frozen inside the compartment.
The freezer compartment, however, will become pro-
gressively covered with frost. This should be removed
with the special plastic scraper provided, whenever
the thickness of the frost exceeds 4 mm.
During this operation it is not necessary to switch off
the power or to remove the foods from the compart-
ment.
If a thick layer of ice is formed it will be necessary to
carry out complete defrosting.
It is advisable to carry out this operation when the ap-
pliance is empty.
